Ever see the train coming...

and you know whats going to happen? What do you about it?

Like you just have a six sense...gut feeling...that you just know...

good or bad something tells you...you see the train coming at you a hundered miles an hour...do you sit there and let the train run your ass over...or get the **** off the tracks??

Well, it really depends on what kind of situation you're talking about. If you're talking about the train in a relationship I tend to let myself get mangled by the tons upon tons of heavy steel coming my way. If you're talking about as far as the rest of ones life (work, business, finance) I brace myself for the train and derail it with a well-placed body slam.

Gererally speaking, I let myself get run down, get myself up, brush myself off, and get back in front of it again.

hrmm..i would say for the most part, people in general get hit. most people don't like to take precautions because they feel that "things" don't happen to them. they always happen to other people. like me, i tend to learn things the hard way so most of the time the train hits me run on my ass. raverboy

Course not, that'd be kind of an obvious answer. She means like when you see something bad on the horizon do you make an effort to run from it or do you buckle down and let it ram you and see if you can withstand it and get back up. All figuratively of course.

looking at it this way I would have to say I see the train and I hear it and I fear it but I just keep going until I am hit - I do this everytime with everything - hehe - I learn from my mistakes too - but hey, dont we all learn from our mistakes ?

hehe - i have never had anything repeat for me - i am a fast learner and a quick thinker -- once i have done something wrong once i never do it again... I always find something else to do wrong though... hehe

But, just because you THINK you see the train coming, doesn't necessarily mean it is what you see. Is it not sometimes worth waiting for things to run their course, before you make a rash decission based on what you THINK is correct information?

Not to mention taking the occassional risk that someone, or something may change.

Living life without taking risks would be quite boring. I don't know that I WOULD change the way I approach life's risks. Everything I do, I do for a reason, right or wrong. If I've made a mistake, it wasn't because I stood blindly and LET something happen (if I was truley blind, I wouldn't be able to avoid it anyway). I'd rather take a chance now and then.

K~this was an old thread, but I was thinking, hell been doing lots of that recently. And just when I thought I needed to get off those tracks, Im staying. Damn, something tells me I need to do this for so many reasons! (maybe it was Fawns thread...I dont know). But I dont see a train for miles, I think thats a good sign now. Or Im truly blind. But even looking with binoculars, I dont see that train ready to hit me yet. No bad or ill feelings. Im so ready to take on probably the biggest risk of the heart, but Im ready. Im definetly doing something which includes way more than the heart, and Im excited as hell! I still stand with the life is too short and you need to take risks in life now and then.

That train may one day hit my ass out of nowhere, but Im ready for it. I'm so ready for anything to happen that comes my way, good or bad, and Im NOT getting of the tracks. :)

Good for you. I envy that to a degree..but I think I generally am the kind to get off the tracks...but it depends on the situation, of course.

I hate to do things half-assed, but I have to admit it's in my nature to be more cautious (cowardly) towards danger and keep myself outside of it until I have great confidence that I can take on the train ahead and win. This is, I believe, my nature. But I am constantly trying to improve myself and so I am trying to become the kind to stay in front of the train without doubts..but as of now I'm at the point where I kind of force myself to stay in front of the train, even if my eyes are closed and I am bracing myself for the possible collision.

Freddie~When you experience pain at its worst, you tend to not even go near the tracks. That was me for 5 years. Wouldnt take a chance at anything. No risks, no hurt, no pain. Then someone comes along, and damn almighty if I wasnt hit before I knew it. Faster than a speeding bullet(oh geezuz did I just say that.)*thinks to self* ok, so I didnt get off, it was the greatest feeling of my life. But one day I sensed something and felt I needed to get off before I was hit and down and out. I didnt want to feel, ANYTHING, I didnt want to feel the pain of a loss coming. But the thing is I dont know what's going to happen. I tell everyone here to take a chance, and yet here I was ready to bail myself. A few months ago, I knew I had to stay and so what, if I get hit and Im down and out, I know I can get right back, ok eventually I will.

That train has a been good thing in my life. I hear it, I see it, and Im waiting alright, but Im not going to sit back and worry anymore. I have to have strength to face the unknown. And by golly, bring on any train, Im ready. Im NOT moving this time.

UPDATE~didnt have to move, got hit. And Im down and out. But I know I will be ok. I saw it coming months ago but thought Id be ok no matter what happened. And it happened. Such as life right? So, now I will stay away from ALL trains. Just not worth the pain. :upset:

Squirt...for what it's worth...I don't worry about you at all. You've got a good head on your shoulders and you are strong enough to recover from the hurt of a heavy load of hurt. I'm a firm believer that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so there's at least something positive to take from all of this right there.

Thanks Freddie. I do believe that also, in the whole scheme of things people dont believe it while theyre going through it, but I know it. I'll take my time to go through all the emotions, like grieving, the 5 steps I guess. But thank you for the words for encouragement. I appreciate it! Funny how when I responded to people's threads about dumping or break ups, at the end I'd always say, dont be sad its over be glad it happened, and Im trying to find my way to that right now.
