Yes I do. And Yes I realize your name is a ALMOST like Keichi (from Ah! My Goddess). You probably mispelled it while registering. I like watching anime. I only watch the REALLY good ones though. The ones that get great reviews and stuff. I hardly ever saw anything that was 'mediocre' or 'poor' just cause it was anime.
I prefer anime over american shows/cartoons because there's an actual PLOT to them and each episode connects to the next - introduciing new characters, forming a base, then letting you watch as the story unfolds and grows more complex, while also bringing it to an end at the end of the season. Not like American cartoons/shows where there's NO connection between episodes. Once the characters are introduced (poorly and usually ALL at once), they just do 'funny stuff' in each episode and it's supposed to keep us interested.

I totally agree. Anime has very good plots...by any chance do you play FF games?
Not too much. Played a bit of 3 and 4, and played through almost all of 7 (got to the last boss, and decided that I KNOW I could beat him so I didn't bother to). I have a bad habit of getting to a certain point in a game and getting bored out of my skull. Almost ALL games bore me at a certain point and I've hardly finished any of them.
anime... my friends are really into that. umm... kenshin. i think zekk is really into anime too. as for final fantasy... after they went to playstation, i never bothered to get a ps so i never played anything after 5. raverboy
ANIME IS LIFE!!! I own over 80 anime DVDs right now but there's so much more I want, just need the cash. My absolute favorite ever is Rurouni Kenshin. I've played all the Final Fantasy games from 7 and on. FF7 was godlike and still my favorite game of all time. 8 was a disappointment and 9 blew elk penis. 10 was good but 10-2 is one of the worst games I've played in a while and I'm in love with FF11. I think that covers all your questions. :D
yeah so i've heard that 8 was pretty shitty. althought i will admit that tactics had a different style that i liked, but it was way too easy. raverboy
Me too,my man. Me too. Particularly the second season. I think the second season is what EVERY anime should be like. It was the perfect blend of action, suspense, thrills, AWESOME plot, subplots, comedy, etc.Quote:

If you guys haven't yet, check out NOIR. Also up there. Probably number two with me. Not comedy, more along action/adventure. About two female assassins who are inexplicably linked and they're trying to find out their past and how they are linked. Great plot (I believe it won anime of the year around 2000 or 2001 in Japan AND USA conventions).
I don't own DVDs. I just have all fansubs. I buy the DVDs of ones that I PARTICULARLY like (and aren't too expensive:evil: ) But I have about 220 gigabytes of anime. Plus a few dvds here and there. That's a rough, conservative estimate. But I haven't seen it all yet. Still watching.

I got a buddy who's downloaded quite a few entire series and burned them on discs and he always gets me to try to watch them but I refuse. See I'm an obsessive compulsive freak and a collector to boot, so of course I have to have everything perfect and bootlegs are blashpemous to me. Although I do have all 538 episodes/movies/specials of Dragonball/Z/GT but I plan to get those DVDs sometime later too.
The incident with Shishio was definitely the best part of the Kenshin series. It was awesome seeing it all straight through on DVD and it was all happy go lucky then that season comes on and its like a slap in the face into seriousness. Awesome stuff.
I'd have to say that my second favorite series would be Neon Genesis Evangelion. I watched that whole series beginning to end in one sitting. DON'T DO THAT IT'LL MESS YOU UP. Besides that I think the only series I've ever been able to stand dubbed was Outlaw Star. I think they did a good job with the english track on that.
I commend you on having all the DB/Z/GT series. That in itself is hard to do. And I can't afford DVDs. I justify it with, "Well, they can just pop on the TV and watch it for free over in Japan and record onto VHS. So why should I have to pay? I'll just get the fansub and watch it for free AS THOUGH I was watching it off a VHS tape someone made in Japan."Quote:

Yup. That's the season I'm talking about. Awesome season. Simply awesome.Quote:

NGE was good. I have/saw that one too. Pretty cool.Quote:

Never saw outlaw star. I have it, but haven't seen it yet (but my rip has both english and jap audio so I'll check out the dub and see if it's good). And for the record, the only one I watched full through in one sitting was Love Hina. Was one of the first anime's I watched and I still really like it!Quote:

If you want a REALLY funny, REALLY good dub, REALLY short OAV series, check out GOLDEN BOY. I had to buy the DVDs after watching it. It's friggin' hilarious. Don't watch it with any kiddies around though. Adult themed (but not really ecchi and definitely not hentai). Just about a guy who runs into hot women and has bad ass luck trying to get them. And the dubbing is SO MUCH BETTER than the jap audio. Seriously.
Alexi
PS - Like I said before. WATCH NOIR! I guarentee it'll be up there with the best of them.
PPS - For those who might be reading and don't know, "ecchi" means perverted (like a movie or show with lots of panty shots and bouncing boobs. Think "Baywatch") and "hentai" means porn (yes. Cartoon porn. Very popular in Japan. Actually, I've found Japanese culture to be very open about sex at any age. Even the kiddie shows allude to it.)
Actually hentai translates into something like "disturbing" or "explicit". Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman is considered hentai even though it has no nudity simply because it's so disturbing to watch. But very very few anime get the hentai rating due to that since violence and graphic scenes are pretty common now.
You'll like the english track in Outlaw Star, I was very pleasantly surprised and never took it upon myself to watch a single episode in japanese. I remember a while back I saw a music video with scenes from Golden Boy, all I remember is him getting walked in on while drinking from a bidet. :astonish:
i never really got into the Evangelion stuff, but then i always thought asuka was the best anime character..even though she's a bitch. raverboy
Oh man. You have got to watch it. The shit he's saying while the bidet's squirting on him is hilarious! Just watch it. Rent it or something if you don't want to buy it. It's only 6 eps and it's completely worth it (if only for the shock/conversation value. But I think so much more! . . .)Quote:

Nah, knowing me I'll end up buying it one of these days. :D
Japanese Animé is the shit. PERIOD lol
Trigun, Ranma 1/2, Cowboy Bebop, Rouri Kenshin, Evangelion, etc. etc. etc.!!
I'm actually in the middle of watching the latest series I got on DVD. It's called Robotech. It was released in the mid-80s and played on Cartoon Network's Toonami once or twice. I hear a lot of negative reviews from a lot of anime fans but you know what, it really is a remarkably enveloping series. Granted it was produced and made really for western audiences and you can easily tell by watching it (ie no japanese tracks, pretty simple storyline) but you know I've never fallen in love with a series except for this one. I did when it first aired and I did again when I started watching the DVDs. The only bad part about it is after 36 episodes all these characters you've come to know so well go away and now you have to get to know this whole new generation of people. Oh well, the first 2 seasons are the best, and if you haven't seen them then see them. Don't expect a truly profound anime but you'll be amazed at the kind of character involvement it portrays.
I've seen that show. It's not "anime". It's completely american made in the STYLE of anime. Notice that you can't hear the "japanese voices", only the american.
However it's one of my favorites also! Only the first season though. I couldn't bare to watch the second one. Lisa's daughter (the main character) annoyed the hell out of me and I had to drop it. But I could watch that first season over and over again, each time yelling, "Minmei! YOU ****ING BITCH!" louder and louder each time I watch it. (Some of the shit she does in that anime to poor Rick really chaps my ass)
Alexi
Actually the series IS anime and was made in japan but it was called Macross. They only recently released the japanese episodes in america on DVD. As for Max and Miriya's daughter, yeah she's a nuisance. I'm so glad the way the beginning ended though, Minmei was such a bliznatch and needed a few slams. :annoyed:
Have those too! But Robotech itself is not japanese. It's based (VERY VERY loosely) on macross. The only real "similarity" being the SDF1 and the veritech fighters.Quote:

It's also interesting how there's the Macross OAVs (four eps), and the Macross Movie. Which is actually the same exact thing, except that the OAVs go into more depth in the characters.
Alexi
Now see, I've never actually seen Macross. I just looked at the descriptions for the DVDs and saw that it had the same plot as Robotech so I assumed that Macross was simply the uncut and unedited japanese version of Robotech because some of the screenshots I saw from Macross were the same from Robotech. Are they the same show? (OAV's excluded)
No. The ONLY similarity they have is the existance of the SDF1 (which in the "robotech" series is still fully operational and in the macross series is just a non-operational statue/memorial of the past wars at this point), and in the macross show they test out I believe two different veritech fighters.Quote:

None of the same characters, COMPLETELY different plotlines, nothing really else that's similar.
Alexi
But both are good nonetheless. But chronologically, Robotech comes BEFORE the macross series. And I don't know where "Macross 7" fits in (never really saw it. Heard the reviews weren't that great so I stopped following the project altogether)
NARUTO IS THE BEST!!! Neji and sasuke kick ass....and NARUTO!!! Kage bunshin no jutsu...hehehe...
I used to have ALL the naruto, but never got around to watching it. I saw like the first two or three eps, but the style of animation didn't really appeal to me so I dropped it. Although everyone DOES say it's cool. But I have plenty of other stuff to catch up on.
Alexi
You should watch it the story is really cool...i thought the animation was really cool. YAY! ggara has come back to sve Rock less, shikamaru and KIBA! WOOT! Hehehe...too much sugar...
I'm just getting into anime. I love it. thank goddess for cartoon network! my fave at the moment is Witch Hunter Robin.
I just wanted to make an update to alexi. I finished watching Robotech and I gotta say, the final saga is really good. It isn't as good as the first one with Rick and Lisa and all that goo, and we know the second one licks elephant nuts, but the third one had a very Final Fantasy type feel to it with the gathering of a party, the evolution of the characters, and overall was very well done. I enjoyed it.
woot! i just got mail. thank you amazon! my book and of course the second dvd of witch hunter robin. It's not on cartoon network anymore! *sigh* i wish the other ones they would start from the begining or let me know at least so i can follow. ok i'm rambling. going to crawl in bed and watch my dvd! i just wanted to share my happiness. yippee!
I like anime a lot. My collection's gotten mighty stale though. I need to order a bunch more dvds. My favorites so far are...
Cowboy Bebop (of course)
Chobits
Love Hina
NieA Under Seven
Maison Ikkoku
with Cowboy and NieA being my most favorites.
idk what kind of anime you guys are talking about - but idk why - but i have always liked anime porn better than real porn :P
I am weird tho - so yeah... idk why i just said that
Don't matter what you like man. Different things do it for different people.
LoL.. I love Dragonball.. I just don't have anytime to watch it anymore now.. It sucks.
bleh, dragonball stinks :)
(actually the original dragonball is pretty cool, but Z is horrible)
Z was good until the Freiza saga ended. Cell and Buu were garbage. I love GT because no one knew aboot it, now that it's being brought over to american its just ok.
