So, this forum has been around a while and seen many faces come and go...
Some of you have 10k+ posts :surprised
Have any of you ever met up? Talked on the phone? Become good friends outside of LF?

Does dialling the number and breathing heavily (and suggestively) into the mouthpiece before hanging up count?
lol.. :D:DQuote:

I am usually a very private person.
I'd be worried that after I have met someone in real life I'd become less open about private stuff.
And I like it here because I feel I can talk about everything!
But I can't deny that it is very possible to develop a soul mate type of relationship on this forum and yes in that case I would at some point like to meet the person!
:)
Haha brilliant! Really made me laugh!Quote:

But seriously... stop doing it. It scares the crap out of me!
@ Sookie... Good reply.
So you believe in soul mates then?
Yes I do and I also believe that a soulmate is not necesarily a lover. I have had instances (a few) of friendships in my life where there was instant connection and trust.Quote:

Hmmm... I'm completely undecided on this issue. Its a complicated one and one I would want to think about for a while longer. A soulmate not being a lover is a very good point though and something I hadn't really considered but certainly not something I would write-off by any means!
I was very willing to give my trust to people until recently. Now I'm making sure to hold back but not in a bitter way. Just in a 'I'm a little bit older and a little bit wiser' type way. A healthy decision I think.
I can think of three people I had an instant connection with. 2 of which are male friends and the other is my ex... hmmmm... fickle?
Yes holding back a little is always good. And as you say it's part of growing up.Quote:

Am curious to know now if there is such a thing as an LF couple. 2 people who met on the site and fell in love in real life.
I'm pretty sure I saw a post on this but can't remember who that was!
It'd be nice to hear from them if they feel like talking about it!
It's Dopp and Citycat ;)Quote:

Is that for real PP or are u stirring up trouble? lol :p
Why would I? Ask Dopp.
i hope to god i dont get to 10,000 posts, i'd like to think i will be 'fixed' by then (no offence to those that have that many!!)
i've met a few members. i just talked to giga on the phone last night. and i met her irl a couple times. she's the closest member to me. i met nomas and artyemi. they never come around here anymore unfortunately. i was pretty close to meeting up with starbuck over the summer but it never worked out.
A couple of posters stayed at my house last summer. It was fun. Almost as much fun as drinking beer with Misombra and listening to her and my husband go off about how much they hate cops.
If I ever go to US I do everything what I can to go to a place where visiting Miso or Shorty or Chad won't be a big problem :) I want to meet them in person! If they won't agree I will stalk them! :D
If you don't visit Vashti, you'll be in trouble!
Don't You know that meeting parents on a trip is NO FUN? :D j/k
Seriously , if I would live in US I would definately travel everywhere to meet people from here :) It's really a shame that I live so far from most of You :/
well lhn i'll be in london in april, we'll have a drink if you're around
Come down to Oz, Eco, and meet me you fiendish lass you.. :)
My girlfriend is a member here, and this is how we met. Well, she doesn't visit the forum anymore because she got something better than what she was looking for ;)
I've met Illusional and Nomas ...
I'd like to meet others, but I barely have time to meet up with the friends I already know...
@ Giga... I'm sure that would be a very highly entertaining conversation to listen in to lol
@ Eco... I'm pretty sure that can be arranged. Why are u in London?
@ Doppel... It's good to hear of such a thing. How long ago was that?
Eh, it was way back in 2008. As you can see, my join date is August 08. I've been a member here since 04 though.
Yep! The person who introduced me to this forum I know irl and they post every now and then. Rawrrrrrrr. And another person but that our business.
But Neo Seminole, Nisha, Gribble are on my list.
I would meet Illusional if I go back to Hawaii and visit this summer.
And if everything goes as planned in Fall, if I visit my 2 friends in AU I would want to meet some of the posters that live in AU.
They're all over Ackland Street, Punt Rd, and Fitzroy. As many posters as you can lick a blotting stick at. ;)
If I met you guys in person it would spoil the magic. Also, if you think I'm mean here you ain't seen nothin' yet.

^Ha ha I freakin love Denis Leary.
I wish there were posters here from southern Europe that I could hang with when I go on my honeymoon. Or in Vegas, that would be a party (going in April).
Magic? It's all an illusion anyway...Quote:

Yeah, come on, Grib. I'm totally curious to see what you're like in real life.
I'm no stranger to the forum environment as I've been a member at another site (non relationship theme) for about 10 years now. So far I've met at around 25-30 people offline everyone ranging from members, moderators to the admin website owner. In the beginning, I was very skeptical of meeting anyone in person off line because I just wanted to remain anonymous and didn't have enough trust in anyone to do it but once you get to know them they are like any other people you see in person in public. It's not a big deal for me anymore. As long as you meet in a public place to start you'll be fine and besides forum meets can be fun and give you a better connection with the people you see on line. I have met some great friends over the years. Unfortunately, the closest member to me was killed by a train last year but we all stuck together through the bad and good times. However, the theme of that forum I was a part of don't really deal with relationship issues so here I am. Hopefully, over time I can may be able to meet new friends on here.
Gribble is a pirate. He's having parrot on his shoulder :D That's what I remember hehehe (from the picture :) )Quote:
