..."Prom."
Yes, it's this late in the year and, no, I haven't asked anyone to go with me. There are many reasons for this.
1. I'm totally averse to anything that might imply a relationship right now.
2. There's no one I really want to ask.
3. It seems so socially forced. I kind of want to not go out of spite.
But then, I feel like I might regret not going to such an "important" (notice the quotes) event.
Is it too late to ask someone? Should I? Arrgh, it's such a hassle. Help please.

you don't have to go. i went to homecoming once in high school and i hated it. my friend and i moshed to nirvana while our boyfriends sat around completely bored. it was quite unsatisfying.
Yeah dude I didn't even spend prom with my date, heh, she wanted to be with somebody else anyway though she'll deny it just to be nice.
I spent most of it hanging out with my friends and doin' crazy dances that made me look anything but talented.
I went with a few friends. Not many ppl I knew actually went with a date. I had a great time though :)
prom is a night where you get to dress up for around 100 bucks. after you have paid for your bids which usually runs about 75 dollars, you get to take pictures that run also for around 75 dollars. now being that you wish to party after, you're gonna need a place to party and usually hotel rooms run for roughly 200 or so. liquor can cost 50-100 depending on the variety that you want to have. if you wish to have other enjoyment and refreshments that can cost you another 1-200 depending on the type of intoxication you want to supply. wow how much was that already?? that's about a week's work for me. damn. all gone in one night.

well donut... prom is a memorable event... as long as you don't do it too often. i think that when it comes to proms, most couples don't stay together past there years so take a friend. you can always look back and remember that you had fun with a friend rather than being broken hearted over a lost memory. make fun memories because those are the ones that last longer.

I didn't go to a single school dance throughout Junior High or High School. In retrospect I wish I'd gone to a few...make myself more "social". I was too much of a nerd, I guess, thus unapproachable. If I could go back I'd tell myself to go out and parttake in these social events..even if you don't see the immediate "benefits"...

juju, i think that you should go to something before your senior prom so you kinda know what to expect. as the years went through, it only got better.

All the people I know who went. I heard a lot of bad stories. The b*tches of my class took over and made it a miserable time for the rest of those people who went. The after parties were the only thing that made it all worth it. I hated HS so yeah. lolQuote:

I asked Tiny Dancer (the cute one... she's a little ballerina!), and she was very nice about it and smiled but said she "basically" has a date.
"Basically." What the hell does that mean? Oh well, at least I asked.
So now my plan is to inform Tiny Dancer that I too "basically" have a date (I do, the sexy slut) but that I would much rather take her instead. Basically (f*ck that word) I'm going to give her another chance to say yes, as if I don't want to tell the other chick I'm taking her if there's a chance that Tiny Dancer can go with me. Hey, perserverance is supposed to pay off, isn't it?
I don't know... I don't really want to take the "back-up"... She's not nearly as classy as my ballerina... I'm considering not going again, or going solo. Going alone would probably be depressing... unless I am super drunk, which I plan to be anyway...

Ever seen "A beautiful mind?"..there's this part where John Nash figures out that between girls and guys there's a "game" with rules to follow as far as courtship goes. Yet it makes no sense to him.
That's me. I don't play the game. Yeah, I know the rules...shit they made a movie about THAT.(Hitch), I'm not saying 100% of girls follow 100% of the rules the same way, but for the most part..a healthy 80 or 90 follow a good 80 or 90 percent of these unwritten rules. This isn't cool for me because as a result I've yet to have an actual romantic relationship with a woman...but the reason I choose this path is because it's currently what I view as the higher path. It may not be mainstream, but it's what genuinely makes sense to me.
or it's the excuse I'm currently making up for myself..time will tell.
So in this approach, I'd say: Yeah, perseverance may pay off, but I'd say..ah, hell, I gave it a shot....I don't wanna force anything, which is often the result of perseverance. You kinda MAKE someone like you by having them get used to you, you know? That trapped in a deserted island together effect. You'll grow on someone.
But like most peeps say..it's only as big a deal as you make it to be. I don't know what it is to you..to me it's nothing..but I wouldn't recommend being as passionless about things as I am. It sux.
