the people there served her liquid hot enough to give her those burns. the liquid had to have been pretty fuking hot for that to happen. and they needed to pay her medical bills for that. and the judge agreed.

if somebody put vaseline on the banana, or put the banana peel on the floor and made the person slip, then that person should pay for the medical bills.

I guess. It probably WAS way hotter than a normal cup of coffee to burn like that. Wonder what the temp of black coffee out of McD is? Think anyone bothered to care enough to check tho? I doubt it. Its not the way our legal system works. Just grab the cash, don't bother to actually solve the problem.

that woman had to undergo skin grafts to repair the damage caused, and McDonalds already had several HUNDRED lawsuits about their coffee being significantly hotter than the industry norm. They were begging for a lawsuit.

(I heard their coffee was being served at 185 degrees, indi.)

185?? Okay, that is waay too hot. We have our house water set to 140, and even that gets hot real quick.

actually mcd's was required to lower the temperature of their coffee.

plus the grab the cash thing is one of the least troublesome problems of our legal system. in our legal system people serve 20+ years in prison for crimes they didn't commit, only to come out without even an apology and have their lives fall to pieces. in our legal system people get arrested with false charges and lose their jobs or hope of a job without even being convicted. in our legal system people are forced into guilty pleas because they can't afford proper representation in a trial.

i don't think it was a big problem that mc donalds paid out the medical bills for this elderly woman.

I swore that lawsuit required McDonald's to put "Caution: Hot Liquid" or something to that effect on their coffee lids/cups.

Anyway ... if I don't end up getting a job soon, I'm bound to start doing dirt ...

If you were to go into any type of IT work I'd say get into a Cisco Certification programs. Those guys get paid pretty well and generally speaking there really is some demand for them still, but those courses aren't the easiest to get through from what I've been told.
Yep. That or PLC's. Not many seem to be very knowledgable in this particular field. What can I say. My job is pretty secure.

While I do see her point as we spend lots of money and time to get a degree. The college only offers experience and knowledge, it doesn't actually guarantee a job. This person who is suing here makes it sound like she is the only one. How many artists are there out there with art degrees and have no jobs..many.

    College? Experience? Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'll buy the knowledge part, eventhough it's only theoretical knowledge.

There are universities, colleges, and technical schools who offer degrees with guarantees of work upon completion. At least before the current economic disaster began unfolding. I've seen at least one or two of these placement guarantees with the IT industry.

Having said that, I'd like to see the fine print before I pass judgement on this woman.
