I believe in a type of higher presence but I don't believe the "God" entity influences our everyday lives directly.

"Jesus was not hurt as badly in rl as portrayed in the movie not even close."

Bryan, I didn't know you were around then to witness it. How in the heck could you possibly know otherwise?? The bible is FULL of contradiction and is NOT based on fact. It's based on faith. There is no right or wrong. You either believe it or you don't. It is this way because it was not written by just one man but by many diciples. That Roman dude you refer too was Judas Iscariot and he DID condemn Jesus to death because he didn't want more bloodshed between the Catholics and the Jews, however it was the Jews who wanted him gone. It was all political.

And Zekk, they already did a movie, (several, I think) about Jesus' life. Mel wanted to tell the story of his last 12 hours. Brutal. I cried also. Not because I'm overly religious, (it's a very personal opinion, religion), but because of the cruelty and injustice one man can endure to further the lives and politics of others. And just to see the pain and suffering that, not only Jesus went through, but his mother and followers as well. It's offensive, even if you just see the story as a fictional piece. It really makes you wonder what else has gone on in history.

Squirrley, if you haven't already seen it, be prepared girl. It IS gut wrenching. I had to look away several times, (yeah, I know. Pathetic. I would make a TERRIBLE surgeon! )

Ive heard so many things about it-and I have every intention of seeing it with my son at home. Ive seen many movies about His life in Church-nothing like this obviously-but Im prepared as I can be-I grew up in Church and have my beliefs as a Baptist.

I know and understand what you say Breezy. So I'll have plenty of tissues...because His love is no like no other...
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.

    Reality?
But is the theory of the Big Bang really how it started? Here the answer is a resounding no! In fact anyone with enough logic will immediately see the pitfalls of a theory, that like Darwin’s Origin of the Species has been seized upon to distance science from the hand of God.

    Platform Already Existed.
The whole theory of the Big Bang as the point of creation for the universe falls down on one simple point: This is the fact that for an explosion to occur it needs something to explode into. If nothing existed before the Big Bang then there was no platform for the explosion to have taken place. In which case it means that if such an enormous bang had once occurred it could only have done so within the framework of a setting which was every bit a part of the physical world as the universe is today. In other words the Big Bang exploded into a physical universe that was already extant before it occurred. Either way this proves that the Big Bang could not have been responsible for the creation of all matter.
-taken from the National Association for Scientific and Cultural Appreciation.

hehe ....sorry guys don't want to turn this into a science lesson, but I've seen the movie too and i reckon that it was pretty powerful stuff, tho i do not believe in the bible. I do believe tho that jesus did exist and was crucified, wheather or not he was the son of got etc... is debatable. But what can be said for him, is that in his mind he believed that he was going to die for the world. To lift sum great evil from us. Now weather he was the son of god or just sum crazy cultist.... the sacrifice deserves respect I think.

Now I don't believe in the bible because it was written by people...need i say more. I have faith in god or the higher power, and b4 the bible faith was all there was... and it was enough then. So I don't think god won't hold it against me.

Now i don't believe in sicence's theory on the creation of the universe, cause as seen above, it don't make sense. But in most cultures they have a god/gods, higher power etc.... and a soul/spirit.... and a sense that when u die u go sumwhere. Now given that we all developed differently as cultures its quite cool how similar these things are!!! But I am also open to all possibilities, maybe theres a god, maybe there ain't. We could die and go sumwhere or die and cease to exist. Myself i'd like to believe we go sumwhere or continue in sum way, even if we're not conscious of it.
I'd like to think that there are may things we can't explain in this world, and that theres more to it than we can see.

I mean what do u think love is??? Chemical reactions.... or sumthing a bit more special

Did you see the movie "Powder"? I highly recommend it. We are all made up of energy. And energy never dies. It transforms and relays, but never dies. We will go on. Whether we know it or want it.

Yes i have seen the movie, and it was very cool. Also I know its kinda sic-fi-ish, but final fantasy the movie, the concept of gaia is also very cool and similar to powder.

I actually adopted the gaia theory (in some form) as my belief years ago. I didn't get it from final fantasy but seeing it in that movie made me smile. I believe we are all composed of energy or some kind of life source and that when our bodies fall our energy returns to one central spot (what I believe instead of your typical God entity) and our spirits enrich one another. However the life force of the planet are limited in capacity and the more humans procreate the less and less we are infused with said force making our race as a whole becomes weaker and duller. I believe humans used to be much more powerful creatures.

Anywho, moving aside from my spiritual views. I don't believe God created Adam and Eve and it all spawned from there, I find the Bible to be just a book. A work of fiction (frankly I don't find it a very good book either), but hey these are just my opinions, I'm not trying to offend. I do believe in a creator but believe after the medium was created then evolution took hold and created what we know now.

I typically don't talk about politics or religion because people only get offended and anything people say just hits a brick wall, but I thought I'd at least establish where I come from on the issue.

I like the way you think Zekk. Very interesting views. I was wondering if you've read the Celestine Prophecy? I think you would find it intriguing.

I don't like to discuss politics, money or religion either. Just creates animosity and frustration. There's already enough of that in the world. But it helps to offer options. For instance I'd never heard of the gaia theory until this thread. Now I have to do some research. Yeah, thanks a lot guys.

j/k More information means wiser and, hopefully, well thought out choices.

there are 3 subjects I dont discuss very often because it always causes arguements - sex, politics, and religion

Plus usually when I start to talk about these things ppl just dont get where I am comming from - its like I am the only one who thinks the way I do.
