Three months is my limit?

My last boyfriend and I started dating August 5. He exposed me to many firsts in our relationship - most notably, kissing. Yesterday he called, but my phone line was on the fritz and was making loud buzzing noises, so we retreated to chatting on Facebook chat.

My replies were a little slow in the beginning because I was talking to a long distance friend who I haven't been able to talk to in three months, so we were catching up with each other.

I think I only cried for ten minutes. Since then I keep thinking about the things we did together, which resulted in me not falling asleep until after four in the morning. I've promised myself that I won't call him or anything to try and return things to the way they were - I learned the hard way with the previous relationship.

I'd like to know if my responses were okay.

Is there anything else I can do, or is this the end of the road?

This is the third of my four relationships that have lasted three months. The last two, I was on the receiving end of the breakup because they stopped loving me and considered me more as a friend.

*sigh* I know I'm still young, but I feel awfully empty and lonely. Not even a night out with my sister helped.

Do you know that they did love you at one point and just have become uninterested? I just can't see loving someone for just three months. In his messages to you, they seem too cordial where it seems distant.

I know that he loved me, because (for example) on a few occasions when I was stressed (and crying) about something, he would look me in the eye and say things that would cheer me up, and that things will get better. (I've always had a problem dealing with stress, but in the past month I've been doing a lot better.) He always wanted me to be happy, and I always wanted him to be happy.

Hello, I am not trying to play devil's advocate nor am I trying to convince you he doesn't love you. I gather that you are still young. Most guys are not mature until a much later time. Many times they are not sure of what they want in a relationship. My gut feeling is that there isn't a way to salvage this relationship nor is it worth it. I think you just want to know what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future. My advice is try to date guys that know what they want because it's clear you don't want a short term relationship.
