I'm not even sure if there ever was a MAN calling for the equality of the sexes, in past history, and I think that without certain feminist movements, however far we have evolved, the Female race might just as well have stayed at home, had it not been for those who spoke up and empowered generations past.

I'm no feminist, My dad worked day and night for our family, and I see nothing wrong with a woman wanting to stay home and raise the family and look after her man who works hard to keep food on the table and a roof over heads. But I don't have that, I am a single mother who wants to be able to go out and work, study etc, provide for my son just as a man would, it may not all be down to feminism, but I acknowledge that it had a big part of why I am able to the things I do today, and I am niether surpressed nor judged for it.

i feel good, i exercised my civic right by voting today for the first time in my life. it felt damn good woohoo, can't wait to see what happens tomorrow with the lisbon treaty.

Judging from the posts of several men on this forum, it still seems that many of you need to bang rocks together to get the light to turn on upstairs.

Bumble_bee, if you read about how any significant power shifts occurred historically you will learn that it always requires support from those currently holding the power. In fact, noone can actually hold power of any sort for any amount of time without the agreement of others.

White people recognized racism was wrong, rich people realized that poor people should be helped. Not all, not even a majority in all cases. But enough with power sufficient to make things happen. It doesn't take as much as you might think.

So, yes, men definitely supported equality of the sexes. Who do you think were the one who voted to allow women to vote, or run for office?

Women tend to forget that... it was a group of men who helped women in their quest for equal rights.

There are still men who support women even now in their quest for true equality. Some of them are on this forum.

As much as some women may hate to admit it, the entire feminist movement owes its success in part to men.



I need to get a shirt that says that and wear it to the next feminist rally and see who doesn't get upset. :)

It's great that feminists in other countries now have a role model and will be so eager to follow in their footsteps. Feminists everywhere are demanding that women citizens in their country be given the same rights as the women in Israel!

Are they doing that, or are they clapping their hands because they only wanted to prove that women are capable of serving as soldiers, but don't want to do it themselves?

I say send the women in there. I just don't want to hear the women bitch because they are being judged by their PHYSICAL abilities and put into positions that work best for the military NOT their egoes. Hate to admit it, but typically the female body type works best to be in the rear with the gear.

Also, I'm not too keen on the idea of pregnancy on the battlefield. Can't they take birth control during their tours?

I don't want to fight as a soldier. Pick up a rifle and protect my family, yes. But not as a career choice.

I'd rather be M.... ;)
