I just read the article and I noticed part of it reads:

"A mayor in northern Italy banned them from beaches and pools, saying "the sight of a 'masked woman' could disturb small children, not to mention problems of hygiene."

    LOL

It's easy to say that if you grew up in an industrialized nation. Trying growing up in a culture where religion and tradition pervades life. When you've been told that something is right or true since birth, and everyone else believes in it and all your teachers and parents have been saying this since you were little, it's hard to believe otherwise.

    My, my...Womyn's Studies...

    Basket-weaving course? Sure is.

All you need to remember for the final exam:

    1. Men are evil, raping, oppressive bastards.
    2. A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.

And yes, you are being brainwashed, and yes, you don't seem know it.

Because feminism is clearly about hating men, right?

The word "feminism" has been made into a pejorative by the conservative right.

That said, I am pretty traditional. I like men. A lot. And I don't feel oppressed at all.

Also, I think many women have a hard time truly appreciating men until they give birth to one. When you do, you realize that men have it tough, too, and that women (in western culture) wield a lot more power than they care to acknowledge.

And yes, I consider myself a feminist.

Your professor is a ****ing bitch then.

Oh I just noticed you weren't the original poster. In that case, with that kind of thinking, you're part of the reason why feminism exists.

    uh oh...

actually i did a womens study class years ago when i couldn't get into a set up a business class. it was very interesting and in-fact helped me relate to my mom's problems a lot better. she was going thru the menopause and acting like a lunatic. also what was spoken about was post natal depression and the problems women face. but ultimately they never talked about evil men who oppress us women. what kind of stuff are they teaching you? it kinda sounds weird and brainwashing stuff

Women are not drafted into wars and cannot serve in combat positions. I hear the feminists are clamoring to change that

I think women studies is a bullshit class.

I learned a lot about feminism in World Politics. Fukuda-Parr is the perfect example of a feminist. They are focused primarily on human rights because of the threats that come with globalization, which target women and children. They're concerned with topics like war rape, women's rights of nonliberal actors, human trafficking, etc. They criticize politics for being prodominantly of male gender perspective and based off masculine norms.

I tend to disagree with liberal and differential feminists. I do however agree with the postmodern view that the roles of men and women are flexible. I think roles are interchangeable and independent from gender.

I suppose the one thing stopping me from labeling myself as a feminist would be the criticisms towards neorealism. I tend to call myself a neorealist.

They serve in combat positions in this place
