Beyond the compliment I handed out....the rest of the message.... It stated clearly that American women are accomplished, too. You know what is problemmatic, though? Generally speaking, American women aren't very comfortable with the idea of being a woman. This is especially true for the Anglo variety. An unfortunately, popular culture elites continue to tell women that they shouldn't want to be women or feminine...well, except for pushing their boobs up so high that their nips are directly under their chins....what the hell is with that, anyway? Boy times change. I remember the late 1970's when minimizers were all the rage (a take off on the Mary Tyler Moore theme song is running through my head "...looks likes I'll tape them after all...")

Anyway, back to the main point...Women generally tend not to deal with this modern dilemma privately; rather, they make it a public issue. Result is that their frustrations with themselves become the frustrations for everyone else.

I have to agree with you on this. Because I have been out of the US 4 times (Been to Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia), and the girls in these countries tend to be more feminine than the ones here. But each country has its own culture, so things like this will differ from country to country. Plus I know I keep on going back to the feminist movement and all, but I think that this did more harm than good and I think a lot of the problems between males and females come from this.

I admire European women. Especially German. There is a German girl at my youth group. She is much more mature than anyone in my high school.

Agreed--there are country by country variations.

Well, we have the Baby Boomer generation to thank for the way feminism turned out in long run. A good idea, well-intentioned, was ruined by the Boomers.

Misombra thats a generalization. I don't think i'm girly, sure my hair is a bit long but i'm getting it cut short, i never wanted long hair but i did it beacuse when i was little my mo made me and it just grew on me and i got used to it. Me and my group of friend don't listen to whiney and depressing music. I don't think gender roles are confused for us. Especially for me, i'd honestly perfer an old-fashioned home like the one i grew up in.

Agreed. I've been reading this thread with slight disgust. Who cares if people want to act differently from "traditional feminine" or "traditional masculine" stereotypes?

Ya'll sound like a bunch of clueless jerks who can't see their own male privilege, so you assume it's not there. Feminism is simply the idea of equality between the sexes. Yes, you can recognize that men and women often have differences, but that doesn't negate the need for equality. The feminist movement hasn't caused "more harm than good", it's knee-jerk reactionary men who are afraid that they're losing power because of it.

Nah, actually, I'm trying to allow myself to be more human, now. A friend of mine told me I "keep trying to take the taste out of life"...it's lost in translation a little bit, but it basically means I should allow myself the normal human vices of talking about the same thing everyone is inevitably drawn to. So with that: Nope, still not "found 'the one'".

But there was a girl I really liked there. Whoa, what a long story THAT is, though. I'm not going to sit down and tell the whole story, but I'm sure you'll hear it in bits and pieces. I've got new theories because of this experience now, though. I'll share them as the opportunities arises.
