Well not her sister so much, but her friends, with all the wisdom of sheltered twenty year olds, have been saying things to her like:

Her sister to be fair, is just protective because Kritin's been so miserable. I think she wants her to move on, which is fair enough, because I won't be home for a year or so.

girls get attached. and you say you didn't love her so her friends would be right, q no? it's probably just hard for her too accept that. girls tie their sense of self-worth to how boys feel about them. and the fact that you so easily left probably makes her feel like shit.

but yeah, just leave her alone for a little while and she'll recover.

No, I do love her. Which is why what her friends said irks me so greatly.

Are you regretting that you left, charlieboy?

Definitely not. I really love being over here. I just regret the ordeal it's putting her through.

Have you considered inviting her to visit you in Europe? I don't know what she's doing with her time, but maybe it will give you both something to look forward to.

Yes I had considered that, but the founding principle of this trip was to do it on my own. To remove myself from work, home, friends, family and girlfriends and develop a sense of identity that was independent of those immersive facets of day-to-day life. So I decided against it. Also I've often seen those sorts of plans go sour.

Wel, do you plan to look her up again if she is still available when you get back to Australia? And if yes, does she know that?

[Charlie Boy II]

Yes and yes. Our arrangement was that we would split up while I'm away, but stay in touch, with the strong likelihood of resuming our relationship when I return.

I think part of the reason her friends are having a hard time with this is because it is so against a woman's nature to make a plan and stick to it if our emotions are involved. I kind of admire your ability to act in your own long-term best interests in spite of the pain.

I hope she waits for you.

How long have you been together for?

a year. In fact, we met at a party on December 16 last year. So, were we still technically together, today would have been our one year anniversary.
