I don't think bigotry is really about race or nationality. I think it's something more than that and I think it's here to stay for a very, very long time.
I think it's possible to change from within though. I think looking around people are genuinely less barbaric than they were some 5,000 years ago. At least most don't club something every day. Of course we still have a long way to go and mutually assured destruction is there as a huge motivator to progress faster, but I think the possibility for people to evolve into more peace loving and open minded individuals is there. We just need to find out how to do it and how to influence people to make that change.

That's a cultural evolution that is simply suppressing those natural urges.

    As in, they're not permanent.

i think everyone from older generations have a right to be annoyed and boycott, however i do think no land should belong to anyone, but it does and gets taken over all the time. i'm irish irish irish irish and probably part english if i face the truth coz the english came in to ireland and raped and pillaged. i don't hate the english tho, but i do respect my grandparents generation and the fact that they do coz they were the ones to suffer at the hands of the english. my first two bf's were english ( i would never admit that to my dad! he'd go nuts). but i don't hold it against the younger generations, people should be able to get over their parents or grandparents gripes even as traumatic as it was, it's not the new generations fault. it's an opportunity to slag and friendly banter about stealing our potatoes, thats all

I love TED talks. Steven Pinker lists some percentages that are very interesting and he states that we are currently living in the most peaceful period in the history of humanity.
