My boyfriend and I are in pretty constant contact with one another throughout the day. We IM at work and call each other at night on the nights we're not together.
That was one thing that really attracted me to him at first, his consistency with communication. I don't really have time for a guy who is going to feel smothered because I want to talk to him.
I'm sorry, but it has nothing to do with this:
This is not why women want to communicate. Not in a healthy relationship anyway. We want to communicate because we CARE about the guy and he is the person we most want to share everything with.
OP, if you want to communicate more than one text a day or one call, I would suggest finding a guy who will reciprocate your need for contact. It's totally ok to want a deeper level of communication with your bf.
Honestly, if the guy you're with is telling you that a text a day is "too much," I'd question his compatibility.

I never liked phone conversations with my girlfriend - though we'd maybe call each other once during long periods apart (several weeks or more).
We'd e-mail each other pretty much every day, though, and chat on an instant messenger if we were both online.
When we weren't at a distance from each other, we'd usually see each other most days, but not every day, and again would communicate over the internet.
I generally liked daily contact, though I could manage without it when I needed to.
I don't care to talk over the phone. In my opinion a phone is a convenient means to arrange a face to face interlude, not a substitution. I also don't do texts. They aggravate me. Personally, I'd have to dump anyone who wanted to talk to me on a daily basis. I couldn't date or be friends with a person like that. We'd go several days at least without communication, and there would be plenty of weekends we wouldn't even see each other. I don't really have any leeway. If a girl wants more contact she's got to find someone else.
