a cosmetic change like a man shaving his chest is no more vain than a woman putting makeup on, styling her hair, painting her nails, or waxing her legs. It's all done to improve our appearances. No, I'm not intimated by men with nice bodies at all. Personally, I think I'm quite attractive. MY experience with men that are workout junkies just tends to be that they are either A) really vain, or B) on the opposite end of the scale: very insecure and feel they need to prove something. I understand it's a generalization, but that's been my experience thus far. When I meet someone that disproves my opinion, I'll change it. But it hasn't happened yet.

There's degrees of vanity in men, Neo. Most men, even the fairly metrosexual ones, don't normally feel the need to get rid of chest hair.

I'm a pretty hairy guy at 20...I'll admit when summer comes rolling around I shave my whole body. I have both a hairy back and chest, so it all comes off because I end up looking like chewbacca at the sand. lol

It has nothing to do with being vane. If we're talking about being vain, maybe ladies should stop putting highlights in their hair, or using cosmetics all together. It's not like you need to do that stuff.

I like men to look different from how my body looks. I Like to be hair-free. I like men, because they are different. Isn't that why guys like women all neat and clean? They are different. Opposites attract.

Vash, if you like chest hair, then you have all the right to do so. But to me, men with hairy chest (or too much hair on his arms or legs) looks like a gorilla. I like smooth, cleanly shaven skin because it looks better and plus it feels nice too. But I agree with you that hair is manly but those who shave or wax doesn't make him any less of a man. The way his bones and muscles are structured (and his penis) is what makes him manly.

I think everyone cares about their appearance. Although some metrosexual men doesn't work out, he is STILL preoccupied with his appearance; just in a different way. Merely shaving or waxing hair is not even close to the vanity of some men (or women) who are preoccupied with their hairstyles and clothes. At least some people don't go to the extent of shelling out their monthly salary on clothes and hair products (now, that is what i call vanity!)

I think Neo's cleanly shaven/wax body is hot. But those who doesn't or can't shave or wax their body doesn't have to worry because a person's attractiveness is not reducible to how big his muscles are or how picture perfect his body looks.
