The Sopranos are hardly representative of Italians. The show is more representative of Italian-Americans who live in NYC than anything else

And for similarities.... are all Italians in the mafia? The mafia isn't that big at all. The 'Ndrangheta, the mafia from the part of Italy my dad is from, supposedly has only 10,000 members worldwide, and thats spread over countries like Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, the US, Argentina, Australia, etc....

If he were on a spaceship, he'd be vented out the airlock.

But, you know, we should have more *tolerance* for this type of behaviour. He's just a victim himself, you know. I'm sure the 15 years in jail, at the Australian tax-payers expense, will just do wonders for this upstanding guy.

I agree with everyone else on this, but...

I can't help but think that people wouldn't be half as furious if this guy wasn't Italian

    Why do you say that?

I'll also add that I took me a few seconds to understand what you were saying. There's a lot of negatives in there.

Because with all the massive amounts of Hispanic on black (and black on Hispanic) violence in this country, how is it that a case of an Italian-Australian beating and killing a Chinese-Australian is what gets the attention?

Not only that, but it's not like I'm oblivious to some of the subtle dislikings people have of Italians. Or the not-so-subtle ones. In high school anti-Italianism was pretty popular and people could get away with it. Maybe because you couldn't get away with doing it to blacks, there weren't really any Asians, and people weren't going to actively hate on their own Anglo selves. Either way, 2 or 3 kids (I can't remember if one felt the same way as the other two) would make outrageous remarks like advocating killing all Italians and Italian-Americans. Teachers didn't care when they made less outrageous remarks

I don't understand why there would be an attack on Indians. They're probably the best immigrants of the lost. Polite, hardworking, pleasant.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.
