Really? I thought the smartest rule was to choose someone with less problems than you.

well think about it, if your problems became their problems too that would put strain on them they didnt have before. they would feel disempowered because they dont know if you love them or if youre only dating them because you need them. they would revert to their secondary emotion, anger, to feel empowered again. in other words you guys would fight alot and eventually break up.

like on rock of love with bret michaels, amber and daisy. daisy was cute but she was more at the "safety" need while both amber and bret were higher on the triangle, id say at self actualization. Bret said he didnt want to be with daisy because he wouldnt know if she was with him out of love or out of need. So he chose amber, who really didnt NEED anyone to be happy or successful because she already was
