i know it doesn't matter now, but what about when i do get serious with this guy? could me being older cause trouble later on?

It'll only cause trouble if attention is brought to it. In that you and him don't get along because you have almost nothing in common due to an age gap (not an issue at 1.5 years), either you or him is being pedantic (which is unlikely with a gap of only 1.5 years), or you fixate on the fact that you are older than him and constantly bring it up (which is possible if you continue to give it undue attention).

Basically 1.5 years is a non-issue, no matter how old you and him are and how long you stay together.

age is only a number and honestly 1.5 years is small, besides if he likes you then age shouldn't be an issue.
