Wierd situation.

Ok i really don't know what to do. I met this guy and i tought he was nice and stuff but i found out that he told my friends that he likes me.Sooo i started thinking about him more,and he asked me out..Everything went nice.He was so gentle and listend me carefully,but we didn't kiss... I didn't think about that a lot becouse it was our first date and i have known that he's really shy. But now sudenly he is acting strange,he is colder when talking to me,and he said to one of his friends that he's not that in to me. But just week before that to the same friend he said that he really really likes me. Now i'm confused as hell! What is he thinking? What should i do? What should i think now?
