If you have an outgoing personality, its not hard to meet people IRL. Even at my age I meet nice gentlemen all the time.

Online is a good option for the very shy, I suppose. You can show yourself without fear of any repercussions IRL. So far, anyway, if the government keeps out of things.

You write very well Qwerty. I'm not saying someone needs to possess professional level writing skills or be naturally poetic.

You'd be surprised how many people aren't able to say much more than duh with a paper and pencil...not saying it's always the case, but it usually translates into a fairly dry personality online and IRL.

I can see how online dating could be a good way to meet people, even if your not a shy person, like primo said its something different. Its just not something I would do at this point in my life so i choose the pub

Ya, it's just another option. I get networked enough, fixed up enough or meet enough people through working/everyday life, that I wouldn't have time to sift through all the options on a dating website. Maybe it's too big of a candy store

Outside of dating, I've made a couple of guy friends online over the years that I've come to know very well, met in person and trust and share alot about my life with them and vice versa. It's nice...

Yes. I tend to be more open and expressive on paper. In person, I bite my tongue a LOT more than I do in writing because it is considered bad manners to be so direct in person.
