Are you ****in' kidding me? My mom never put me on a leash.
I saw some kids on leashes before, though and I couldn't believe it.

What is wrong with putting kids on leashes? It's not like it's around the neck. It can be around the wrist. It makes sure theydon't go off running out in the street.

My sister-in-law took my nephew to the grocery store when he was two, and they ran into a friend of hers who was also shopping with her child. Her friend's child was on a child-leash.

My nephew pointed at him and said "puppy!"

I'm not kidding. She said it was all she could do to not burst out laughing.

I think there's a plethora of things wrong with having a kid on a leash. I think for one, a kid should know better to not run out into the street before you let him out of your supervision.
A leash is a symbol of a lack of parental responsibility.

Ahhh right ... because you have loads of experience being a parent.

Kids are going to be friggin' kids ... curious and wanting to explore. I understand the use of leashes and harnesses being used to prevent kids from running off to get kidnapped or hurt.

Ahh right, because I don't have any children of my own, I must not have any common sense about being a parent </sarcasm>
Way to make this into a personal argument. I bet you were offended by my post.

Parents are supposed to be there to prevent their kids from running off, getting kidnapped, and hit by cars.
It's the same way with dogs, you know. The reason that people put dogs on leashes is because they can't train their dog to be obedient.
The exception with dogs is that some dogs simply will not obey; they are animals with their own instincts and we cannot expect them to immediately know how to walk alongside us.

I don't know what excuse a parent has to leash up their kid, though. Feral children? lol

    edit:

I just asked my little sister who's just learning how to read how she would feel if mommy leashed her up. She knows what a leash is because we got her a Nintendo DS and that dog game. She said that she wouldn't like it and she'd be embarrassed if another kid saw her.

Step 1: Beat your child into submission before leaving the house, rendering them unable to misbehave.
