Can NC make two people civil to each other after?

I once dated this guy for about a year. He broke up with me and never did give me a reason why. I was really hurt and kept trying to get a reason why out of him. We are no longer talking. Is it possible that NC can help two people become civil to each other after? Maybe even become friends? I still see this guy around and sometimes I wonder if things could have been different with NC.

No Contact can eventually lead to civility. I had an ex that we tried to be friends directly after the breakup and it ended horribly, we were miserable for months. After that we didn't talk for years and then out of the blue we started talking to one another again. We're civil to each other now that enough time has pass to smooth out the rifts. On the other side usually after no contact you free yourself from that want to be around them and you no longer care if they are in your life or not.
