Don't give up your independence, ever. I can tell from your posts you will resent it if you do. Its a core need of yours. If your partner doesn't appreciate this about you, you may need to find a partner who can. Otherwise, he will just resent you for your need. You'll both be miserable, sooner or later. I've seen it happen.

Work on a compromise...seriously tho you don't have to move in together at this time...just look at it as a delay in plans. Having him take in his family should be a temporary thing am I right?

yes, living with his family would be temporary- things are still somewhat up in the air and they might end up staying with other relatives, but there are some issues involved, in terms of the other relatives possibly not having enough space, who would support them initially, etc. i am planning to take a step back and delay moving in if it does come to that- i am used to my independence and value it, and i also don't think that type of stress would be good for our relationship in general.
