My ex's best friend facebook messaged me at 4 am asking to "hang out". I politely told him no. He said my ex was abroad and that he was alone in their house, bored. What do you think this could mean? I don't think he would have never done this if my ex was there.

Frankly, I don't have anything good to say about someone who texts at 4am...

I think it's fairly clear what it means if a guy messages you at 4am asking you to "hang out": he wants sex. He's your ex's best friend. Steer clear. It's not like he's pursuing you in a romantic way, just in a sleazy 4am text message kinda way. Ew!

I've had the same issue after my ex of four years and I split. Several of his friends hit me up wanting to hang out. They probably were jealous of your ex for having you while you were together so now that you're not they're making a move. If you're not interested you need to tell him to back off. He obviously wants more from you than you're willing to share.

OP your ex sounds like an asshole so his friends probably are too. Stay away from ALL of them. I think its obvious that they are only after one things and are NOT relationship material. Next time a guy texts you at 4am asking you to hang out-say "only if I can bring a hammer and chisel with me so I can cut your dick off". Thatl shut him up fairly fast
