The main problems come at family and friend gatherings, when you get a bunch of Russians together it's very difficult to bring someone from another culture with you to that. I know a lot of people who had a tough time trying to fit it.

I married an Indian guy. I was usually the only non-Indian person in the room. I learned Punjabi pretty quickly, because they usually didn't bother with English.....either because they couldn't, or they didn't care to indulge me. I didn't get mad about it. I went to their temples and participated in Sikh religious stuff. I chose to marry into that culture and I just made it work. I still really love the culture.....too bad the guy turned out to be a jerk.

I'm an advocate of dating outside your culture. You learn a little more about other people.
