    my friend just took a swine flu test for culture cuz she was feeling nauseous. they told her she was feeling sick cuz she was PMSing.

    Who cares if its swine flu or not? If one is sick, just stay home, rest, drink lots of fluids and take something for the fever.

    All this gal did was potentially expose whatever ick she may have had to the doc/nurse who examined her & everyone else in the office.

    But if the treatment is no different, what's the point of the test?

    I was just talking to my parents about this. They remember the last 2 pandemics. There were no tests, and wouldn't have bothered even so. They just hunkered down for a week or so and whoever didn't win the vomit/high temp contest that day got to get up & make tea.

    did you hear about a vaccine in the 70s i think, that killed more people than the flu?

    Do you mean the old MMR vaccine? I don't know much about it, except the way they generate the vaccines now are much safer, using recombinant techniques that don't require a live host.
