Haha like me?

I'm not surprised Tedel has the image of the US that he does. My cousins and other relatives from Italy have these wacked out preconceived notions about us. For instance, she was asking me about differences between the US and Italy, and I told her the first thing I noticed was the security guards at the airport with automatic weapons they had in their hands. She immediately asked "Do you like guns...?" with a lot of other stuff trying to link me to her already formed idea of America

I just thought "Well, you're 5 minutes from a seaport that imports illegal automatic weapons and RPGs from Lebanon and the government doesn't do anything, you don't have much right to talk"

I'll probably end up there for posting this!
I wouldn't be surprised if this information in the end ends up with Telemarketers. Did you hear about the centralised databanks which store all of your information? It's up for sale to the highest bidder.

Ever heard of Acxiom?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acxiom

Acxiom is an industry leader in the area of grid computing with its CII (Customer Information Infrastructure). They store carefully guarded data about you, not just your name, address and phone number, but also the catalogs you get, the cars you've bought, and maybe even what shoes you wear and whether you like dogs or cats. Acxiom's information is culled from census data and tax records, those product surveys you answered and customer records supplied by corporations and credit card companies that are Acxiom clients. Acxiom sifts all this data to produce lists of target consumers for their clients. Acxiom divides all consumers into one of 70 different types they call "lifestage segments," encompassing everything from what hobbies you have to what products you buy, where you live to what you believe in.

I didn't mean you personally; I meant people who buy into those stereotypes.

I want YOU to come. You may be good poolboy material. How are your cocktail-making skills?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

But really.. As long as I'm alive I can take one for the team if another country starts thinking they're hot shit

Man sometimes I just wish so hard NROTC didn't disqualify me. But OCS is always an option if they decide they really need officers
