shit, so i was watch hbo and they had a special on the survivors of the two atomic bombs that they dropped on japan. it was pretty interesting, and graphic is a way.

two main things that i remembered from it that i want to share.

    1. the children were walking around after they had survived the blasts and what they saw was unimaginable. since the blast had dehydrated everyone, basically everyone was a walking body of ashes. and that's as far as i'll say.

    2. being that a lot of people had survived this as children, later when they grew up, they had a lot of medical problems. one guy was complaining of constantly shitting liquid from his ass. they way that they said it was hilarious, but he was being very serious.

Yes, and in another generation, those ppl will be gone. Similar to the holocaust. Noone to remind us that some acts of violence are too atrocious to ever do. I wonder if at some point ppl will start saying that the bombings never happened.

Those scientists who worked on the Los Almos project have a lot to answer for. Similar type issues happening now with genginering. I'm not sure I like what companies like Celera are doing.

Those bombings are among the greatest crimes ever perpetrated.

I knew a lot of smart kids (and my dad too) who went to state schools (undergrad) for money. I almost did too. The only reason I ended up at Cornell was because kids living in state pay about $10k per year less if they are in the college of CALS, so I just switched from chemistry or maybe engineering major to biochemistry. Sometimes I still think I should have went to University of Buffalo because Buffalo is a great city (just got back like an hour ago lol) and tuition is CHEAP!

PS- What do you think of Columbia University and University of Chicago Indi? If I decide to pursue a PhD in some type of chem or biochem these would be my top choices right now

Idk, I think the reason some people claim the holocaust never happened is because they hate Jews. At least right now I would guess there are less people actively hating the Japanese so people wouldn't really make outrageous claims like that

I actually would support some of "questionable" genetic engineering projects Indi. You've probably never played Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but if you have you would know Ubdersoldat. The premise of the game is that the Nazis were making kind of zombie like manmade living beings to be the ultimate killing machine

Hmmmm idk. The Japanese were literally crazy back then. I mean, they didn't surrender after we nuked them the first time

Can you imagine the United States surrendering? I can't. They'd have to blow up New York and LA first. There's no excuse for wholesale civilian slaughter.

Also, I support Nazi supersoldier zombies.

Well... the fact is, though, russians never got to the point of nuking somebody, unlike americans...

First, they nuked the cities, then won the war and then they collected all the data from Japanese Holocaust aka Test lab 731 and deny to this day. Japanese were worse than Nazis and USA just bought the information, closing the case up in secrecy and people never got judged, that makes USA a copartner. Whoever denies this, is ignorant and should do some home reading.

Gee, I wonder why that is!

When we nuked Japan we were the only country with a nuke, therefore nuclear retaliation was not possible. This by itself is enough justification that America cannot be compared to Russia in context of nuclear attacks, because we were in extremely different circumstances to when they could hypothetically have even used a nuclear attack

Look at the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Russians were trying to set up nuclear launch sites 90 miles from Miami. That was a pretty fuccking MASSIVE provocation to say the least. Besides, the Russian government is backwards, Russia with nukes is a really bad idea

Both great schools with solid programs.

But a lot of undergrads don't understand that your PhD advisor is just as important, if not more so, than where you do your work, assuming your grad school is decent which I'm sure it will be. A Masters isn't quite such a big deal, as often these programs (esp non-science ones) are largely course based & aren't so dependent on a solid thesis & publication record to launch your career.

I'm less familiar with chem, but for biochem there are many awesome programs. MIT/Whitehead, CalTech, Harvard/HIM, UofC, Rockerfeller, Columbia... depends on what area you are interested in.

Can give you more ideas, but off topic (tho your thread) so PM me if you want to discuss further.

you know there are always conspiracy theories. i have heard that we caused the japanese to attack us. we withheld their oil supplies so that we could enter the war after they attacked it. it was all planned. just like 9 11.

Yea, totally. You know, I think my neighbour took some lettuce from our garden once. Cheap bastard needed it for his BLT & couldn't bother to ask us.

Great excuse to dump some radioactivity into his garden next time he does that. I'm sure I wouldn't feel at all bad about his son grubbing around in some P32. Serves him right.
