No, I am not contradicting myself as I earlier mentioned 'You will not try to bring them together as that will not be nice to any of you' . But actually you made me see a point of view that was not clear to myself. I see it now mainly depending on the reaction of his friend. If his friend gets offended, which is liable to happen as you said and I agree on that, the new bf will have to compromise or decide which relationship is more important for him.

It depends on how serious the relationship was, or if your friend would really care.
I went out with my friends ex- and he didn't care at all, i had to question him a lot to see if he truly didn't care though!
