I get what you're saying Zekk. How can you call a spade a spade if it's acting like a club, right? Yeah, that CAN be confusing. As if we didn't have ENOUGH to weed through when meeting someone new already.

Exactly, trying to meet a good guy must be hard enough as it is.

hrmm...this is a confusing one. there is a push towards actually grooming yourself, yet you're still trying to consider yourself straight. well i think that most guys to a degree would love to appear sexual and handsome so therefore, they would take care of their appearance. i can understand getting rid of body hair, since, c'mon now, we all shave in the morning and cut our hair, but manicures and so forth?? that is where i draw the line. overall, i think that the metrosexual concept is just something that society or rather mtv came up with as a term that doesn't sound to derrogitory like gay or fag. raverboy

I personally think the label is just for the convenience of describing someone. For instance, someone asks you, "Oh. So you met this guy at a bar? What's he like?" Instead of saying, "Well, he dresses REALLY nice. He has gorgeous hair and smells WONDERFUL. He actually managed to have CLEAN fingernails. No dirt or dinge in them! Very clean shaven, and his skin is SOOO smooth."

Or you can say, "For one thing, he's a metrosexual. And I like it."

Which is the easier one? Labels are there for convenience. Instead of giving them my exact measurements, I can just describe myself as "short and stocky". Instead of trying to paint them a verbal picture of a girl that I met at the club I can just say, she's a "knockout" or a "hottie". So instead of describing this guys dress, hairstyle, care, neatness, etc., you can just say, "metrosexual".

well hell-its like this am I gonna say knowing how damn hot he is turn to a friend and say "oh hes so damn metro!" uh...no. It doesnt sound right does it? I really dont care about the label-I dont. As long as that person is comfortable with who they are and hey like I say more power to them! But I am glad I learned something new-always up for learning new things...

So you attach some sort of negative connection with the term "metro"? Cause it's not negative. Most people I know that are metro completely agree that they are. Even before I mention it to them. I'll point out how ridiculous it is that they go out of their way to match their clothes and shop at the higher prices stores (banana republic vs old navy - which are both owned by the SAME company, FYI), and they'll say to me, "Well I'm definitely a metrosexual. I love this shit." Then they yell at me cause I try to find the '3 T-shirts for $10' deal. And how they would NEVER wear that 'shit'.

Clean is an adjective whereas Metro is a label, that would be why one would rather be called one over the other.
