I'd like to believe that too, but reality gets in the way

It could work, but it will be a lot of work
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

I dated someone who was bipolar.

    The disorder destroyed the relationship.

If he was on meds it was tolerable. Then the meds would stop working or he'd stop taking them completely.. and it was a nightmare. Then he would get back on the meds, rinse and repeat.

    I couldn't handle it.

Trying to have a relationship while constantly dealing with his manic highs and dangerous lows was impossible.. and it wracked me with guilt, either due to feelings that I couldn't/wasn't helping enough or from his outbursts involving him feeling like I was "abandoning him," etc.

If you've tried the relationship, you know how it will be, and it's failed-- why would you give it another shot?
