I suppose i will just have to see how it goes as everyone and every situation is different. If i were to have a relationship with her i would like to take it extremely slowly because i dont want to disrupt a vital time in her life. Not just her development stage but her school work as well. Hopefully the possible "haters" would have more respect for me because i'm willing to accept the situation is sensitive and needs to be handled carefully.
I would still go for someone who is at least an adult. In my opinion, I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into. Be careful.

you being immature is different than a 16 year old's state of mind.

Still a pedophile. I would hope she has her head screwed on right. If not she might be dead already.

Pedophile is someone who thinks of children in a sexual way. They don't necessarily 'act' on such urges. A sex offender on the other hand... does.

Lovelost... hope you realize the thin line you're skating here. There is nothing mentally or emotionally fulfilling in being with someone this young. They're just not on your 'level' per se. Plus, one has to wonder, considering the differences in mental and emotional development, how could you not be taking advantage of her?

Can you honestly say that you're not just thinking of yourself in all of this?

    Don't be daft.

The history of human relationships centred around the mid teens. For a woman to be in her 20's or 30's without being married was a mark of public ridicule once upon a time. Now we're supposed to be in our 20's or 30's before we settle down in a committed relationship.

    Society fosters these silly taboos.

Relationships between two consenting sexually mature individuals are the business of them, not others.

Leave the pitchforks and torches at home.

    Why?

    The long answer:

Because appearantly you are not mature enough to make up your own mind and have to come to a forum like this to ask for opinions OR you post here because you're an attention seeker OR you posted your question here for any other of the numerous reasons I could think of (like a 'shock' effect), none of them related to having a 16 year old girlfriend. Either way, none of those reasons would be considered mature.

    The short answer:

You're both at the same maturity level and it's legal in your country, so.. go for it.

    yup that sums it up

No pitchforks here. I think people are just warning him. I don't think people should advocate pedofilia.

He will be a far happier person if he falls for someone around his age. He doesn't need a taboo in his life.

What people do with their own penis is their business. I think people are just offering advice and giving a heads up.

Paedophilia should only be classed as sex or sexual thoughts over a physically unmatured human being (child). It should only make the distinction between the ability to create life or not. It should be a simple clearly laid out law not subject to reinterpretation according to what part of the sociological cycle society is in or entering into.

When the State interferes with adults, nothing good can come from it.

Some females are capable of reproducing (though not safely) as early as 10 or 11, whereas other females as late as 16. So in regards to the ability to create life or not, what age would you consider someone to be an adult?

I do agree that it should be a law that is not subject to reinterpretation, but how would you clearly lay out the law? Should the ability to reproduce be enough to consider a person an adult, or should they have the mental fortitude to handle the prospect of being a parent as well?

When a child becomes a man or woman physically, the law should take a hands off approach and recognize the unalienable right to self determination that the new adult and their family/upbringing reserve at all times.

Do I advocate 11 year old pregnancies? No.

Do I permit elected and non elected officials to decide personal issues? Never
