Weddings Suck

Well my problem with weddings is how much they cost. The more people you invite the more you have to pay. I don't want to have a happy day if it's going to put me $20000 in debt. That's just shitty.

That's a helluva start on a house, particularly for a couple that isn't rolling in it. I agree.

They don't do courthouse weddings in the city closest to where I live but I was lucky enough to find a celebrant who did small weddings in her backyard. We had 4 family members each and our son. I had my dad there to give me away and my mum because she would never have forgiven me had she not been there. My step mum was also there and my best friend (who is basically family) was there in case our son had a meltdown. My husband had his sisters (they were our witnesses) and their husbands. My siblings were a little cut and so were a few friends but hubbys best mate has been acting like he suffering with a sandy tampon ever since. *sigh*

No matter what you do, you're bound to upset someone when hosting a wedding. There'll be someone who won't like the food or the venue or the time of day.

i thought starbucks wedding was great. they did it at a courthouse then rented the circle line party ship that travels around manhattan and threw a big dinner party.

My little brother ran off and got married to some dumb girl this year. Even though I didn't approve of the relationship, I'm pretty offended that he didn't tell me until after the fact. Oh shut the hell up, jackass. I disapproved of the relationship because she cheated on him and she has been dishonest to him on multiple occasions, and they have been together for not even one year. That is a valid reason to disapprove of any relationship. If that's the kind of woman he wants to marry, then so be it. Like many other stunts he's pulled in his life, I may think it was a foolish decision, but he is my brother and I support him.

I hear you. We wanted 100 person wedding. We're at 140 because of these "must add's". UNluckily.... my Dad is forking over a huge chunk of change so I can't object. I can however tell his side to quit sending over "suggestions" as we're now at 156 people on the guest list. And when we say we're at capacity EVERYONE says... "well they won't all come!" We've just started lying "Oh ok, I'll add them... but I've stopped adding".

I still love weddings, I just hate the guest list aspect.
