In Vancouver or South Surrey, Whiterock areas yes it's expensive, BUT there are cheaper and nicer, brand new, basement suites, that are not in crakehead alley in Surrey for $650 a month including untilities, close to shopping and transit. The Newton and Fleetwood areas are quite nice.

I suppose the same could be found for Op as well if she actually took the time away from men and her dependence on them, did the research and stayed with her parents if or until she made her accomodation discovery.
