I'm surprised my console lasted as long as it did because according to everyone else that bought a console when I did, it's long overdue. I never abused it, I kept it sitting horizontal on an open wooden shelf and rarely played it for more than 2 hours at a time. I just turned it on today to put it in a dvd and it started flashing red.

People have sued Microsoft over these issues.

I don't know of many cartridge based videogames systems dying. The technology then was much simpler, there were virtually no moving parts, and over heating was a non issue until the Playstation (maybe the Sega CD as well?)
I haven't owned a console since the days of PSOne/N64. I think the price isn't worth it. I'm a PC gamer first and foremost.

    Microsoft is being lazy.

Faster loading on my PC as well. RE4 on the PC sucked, it was good on the console.
I'm not a fan of the old RE controls but I did prefer the style. RE 4 wasn't the least bit scary and you always had plenty of ammo to take on whatever you faced. I loved in the first couple of REs how I'd have to keep an ammo count in my head and make each and every bullet, herb and med spray count.

Its like my thoughts you speak. It is what made it a SURVIVAL horror game to me. The new one just an action game, which is the direction every game is going...kind of lame.

I think the price for PC games comes down to a lot higher than any console out there. Just the video cards alone for the latest video games cost as much as a console itself. Throw into that constant memory and disk space upgrades and a new computer to pull the latest and the greatest every couple of years and the price for PC gaming sky rockets. I have a PC that can pull most games up to 2007. After that I need a graphic card upgrade because my Radeon 9600 which I got in 2005 is now too old. Plus wtf is with 20Gb+ of hard disk space for new games? Yeh, I'm definitely out of the PC gaming market.

RE2 will always be my favourite.

Though, that's not where survival horror started. It started for me with Alone in the Dark 1 back in 1992. First time I saw Resident Evil i was stunned, it was such an Alone in the dark rip off.

Yea but I can play all my old stuff. If you build a good PC it can last 8 years+ easy now. I have mine for 6 already and it runs everything, only recent had I had to upgrade my vid card. The games run a lot better. Ill be playing next next gen games on the same PC I have right now while everyone will be spending money on a PS4 and Xbox 460. Not to mention my 1080p monitor was $320..how much was your TV you play your consoles on? I rather have one good PC than all the consoles in the world put together really. The quality of gaming is that much better and now that Japanese RPGs are ****ing dead I couldn't extra care less for consoles. PSone was something I enjoyed, FF7 and FF8 was amazing..this new crap sucks..and everything the xbox has is just a PC game dumbed down for it. I wonder if Xbox players know how much better gears actually looks on the PC, it is laughable. Its pricey sometimes for the PC itself but I always manage to build one for 800 bucks that last for up to 6 years..thats actually good compared to even nintendo prices. Also when they come out with a mouse and keyboard combo for the console and great RTS games I will be all over it. The mouse and keyboard feels alot better and more natural for shooters as well.

I hate how every time a game thread is made it has to have some body who knows nothing about PC gaming say that it is either dying or to expensive. Like it matters anyways on that. Some people spend 1000 bucks on a snowboard guess it must suck cause you can get 40 dollar roller blades.

Also think of all the other things you use your PC for. A lot of the price you pay when you build one is the versatility in doing other things as well. Only the video card is really simply just for gaming.

I thought so as well. Though, next next gen will probably not happen for at least another 5 years (the way the sales of consoles are going right now and the amount of untapped potential the current ones still have) by that time I can bet you will be needing an upgrade. That's the thing I hate about PC gaming, the upgrades never end. I'd rather settle for slightly lesser quality than throw so much money on the wind.

Games are the only power hogs. I can easily use a PC without any upgrades for all my other needs.

Enlighten me on this potential because mass effect and Gears 2 are making the xbox 360 take a shit already. From the comparisons the PS3 is actually doing worse than the 360 graphically! though it has more computing power...great...but no so great for gaming. You don't know anything about potential. If they had so much potential Crysis would be ported already to the 360 and Gears wouldn't look like ass compared to the PC version and game would be running at better frame rates than 30fps.

In fact the reason why games are not evolving anymore is because the consoles are underpowered now and the graphics can not enhance further. This is proven by the fact that my 5 year old PC can run FEAR 2 on full settings(higher settings then the consoles) and still haev room left over....why? because the game was designed for a weaker system and than ported to a more powerful one. I actually have a weak PC by today's standards.

You missed the reasoning behind it. IF you buy a motherboard for just a budget daily PC used for no games than it will be like 100 bucks..though a gaming one with better slots and a faster transfer rate and cooling will go for say 150 for AMD. 150-100(for no games things) and the mobo is only about 50 bucks for gaming purposes.

Just because they are not porting it properly doesn't mean it's using all of the console's potential. It's same thing with "Universe at war", It's full of bugs on 360 and it slows down to a crawl not because the console can't handle it, but because it just wasn't ported right.

And you know, some people are simply not interested in minute detail. For example I really don't care how much better Gears 2 looks on a PC.

In any case, I can't play split screen with most PC games (especially anymore), amongst other things, but that alone is a deal breaker.

I already bought the $94 repair, so they're sending me a box as we speak.

I've been collecting material for my test/circuit board. All I need now really, are some screws, some 2x4's, a short cord of 12/2 romex and male plug with ground. I'm hoping to have it built Saturday.

Yea whatever. If someone doesn't like PC gaming that is fine by me but spreading false lies is another. Like mish, who tries to defend at all costs by beating around bush...his word verses the developers who said themself they cant port it do to lack of RAM in consoles. You however are right, you can't play split screen on a pc...well you could but its not as efficient and on every game like the xbox...but how much sense would that make when most people have one PC at him and verse each other from their own computers anyway. Its cool that its a deal breaker though for you, its not like I dont have one and dont know what you are talking about.

i am contemplating about selling my x-box. but i put so much money into it to upgrade a harddrive and put so many games on it, that i kinda feel bad about getting rid of it, even though i haven't played it in ages. well, i play DDR from time to time just to get rid of tension, but otherwise i am stuck to WII.
