NOTE: I am officially done giving out free thanks in this thread. I was trying to work my way out of a poor thanked-to-thanks ratio

I have an exam tomorrow and need to cover an entire chapter still

Since you mentioned Russia Boobaa, I would like to bring to your attention a millitaristics and expansionist Russian head of state. A leader who waged war with Ottoman Turkish empire winning major battles and securing access of Black sea annexing entire state of Crimea from the Turks. Won the war with Sweden. Invaded and partitioned Poland (With Germany and Austria) and played a big role in a whole range of other millitary victories for Russia at the time.

Who was this millitary genuis? It was no other than Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_the_great

Yes, but Canadians don't fundamentally believe, in our hearts, that we are a superior *race* to Americans.

Far as I'm concerned, if you have more money you can afford to give more. Big deal. And every child, regardless of how shitty their parents may be, has the right to food, shelter, education and medical care. I don't much care about adults. Once you hit 18 if you don't want to work, fine. Starve or die from exposure. Just do it away from the public eye.
I am pro-state regulation.

I am anti-federal regulation.

If states make their own laws, at least this way, people have a place to move to (within their own country), if they don't like their state's regulations.

There needs to be some level of regulation, or standard, but the federal government will not, and cannot do it better than each specific state can.

What do you know about Louisiana?

What do you know about Pennsylvania?

New Jersey?

or New York?

How about California, or Illinois?

This country is only going to become more socialist on a national level once the democrats take the stage.

Universal health care.

More taxes for the rich, and less for the middle class.

Means they're going to try to even the odds, which really means degrade society with more systems.
Angry eh?

Capitalism it is. Nothing more. Capitalism can be unwealthy too, I didn't mention welfware. Oh, did you realize your country runs on immigrants?

And I don't know anything about Illinois or Louisiana, etc and frankly I don't care.

I'd call it "Repelled the Swedish invasion" Otherwise it sounds as if we actually lost something. Yes, yes, completely irrelevant but I felt like being picky.

They are two different roles, Guderian was a general, Catherine the Great was Empress / commander in chief. I thought this thread was about the later?

I agree with you on that. If you need to be spoon-fed everything you learn from a prof, you're not as brilliant as you think.

I only attend my lectures when absolutely necessary....usually I self-teach, and I still get A's.

Oh, and I think it is completely fair to elect a female president and have her have a say in military dealings. There ARE women in the military too. Also, like Gribble said, I think a woman is more likely to care about the people she sends into war. A man in power is more likely to see them as warm bodies going in and taking one for the team.

Maybe it depends on the classes you are taking... I don't think there is much of a comparison between let's say English and organic chemistry, for example.
