Just curious... how many Americans who commented on this topic will actually do something to help improve the laws regarding rape?

Occasionally there is justice. Delayed and perhaps a bit overly merciful, but real justice nonetheless.

Why bother with torture? That just lowers you to their level -- I mean that's what they do... they torture their victims.
I'm more for the southern mentality. If it's bad just cull it. The man's a rapist or a serial killer just drop him with a $.25 bullet and be done with it.

No, it does not. They torture people. I propose we torture monsters. There is a world of difference.
But I'm not complaining. I'm glad to see the right thing was done. The monster who stole seven innocent lives and terrorized a city--hell, a nation--is gone. That's what matters. And it didn't take forty goddamn years to do it. A fraction of my faith is restored.

I'm anti-torture. I don't want to be the person that tortures another person (unless they lay one finger on my daughter, and then all bets are off).

Eye for an eye and the world goes blind. I'm anti people becoming the same kind of monsters they wish to condemn.

Neither of you sweet guys have daughters yet. Just you wait. It changes everything.

lol, no no, i feel ya. i'm just speaking from an ideological point of view. but from a practical point of view... it would definitely be different!
I was a 'daughter' who survived such torture and I don't advocate decent people reducing themselves to the level of these pieces of filth.
Just cull them and carry on with life -- that's the important thing. If you play the game by their rules then you end up losing to their game. It's not worth it.
Revenge is never satisfying -- never.

Dreaming about torturing bad guys has no productive component to it what so ever. All it does is affect the person's psyche in the negative way while the criminal goes through the motions of the justice system anyway. Changing the flawed justice system is the key to any positive change and not this senseless torture dreaming.
I'm with Aeradalia when she asked who will actually do something to make a change, lobby the government or support the lobby groups to make changes to the legislature? This is where people can actually make some kind of a positive change for themselves, their community, their country. It's sad to see no response where since so many people are frustrated by this there should be dozens of hands.

I have a son, so have the same kind of love i would have for a daughter...I would want justice, of course, but torturing them takes you to their level, and does nothing but attempt to satisfy your desire for revenge, when, in fact, no matter how much you torture them, it would never be enough to reverse what happened or 'make things better'.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
