    Dealing with Opposite Sex Friends

I would like to know how everyone deals with their boyfriend's or girlfriend's opposite sex friends. It has to be somewhat bothering, maybe even just a little, to see your significat other partying and joking around with another person of the same gender as you. Do most of us see that as a threat to our realtionship?

I am talking more during the dating/engagement stages.

My girlfriend and I don't have friends of the opposite sex, other than acquaintances and colleagues.

It's cool until it isn't. Once I notice anything out of line, I crack down on that shit like a drill sergeant.

At this point, my husband is really careful. He knows I'm smarter about this stuff than he is and he doesn't want to give anybody the wrong idea, so he follows very old-fashioned rules about conduct these days (i.e. don't spend time alone with opposite-sex friends, don't make off-color jokes, don't do anything that could be misconstrued).

I'm not going to lie-- there's always that twinge of jealousy/discomfort experienced when there's interaction with the opposite gender, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I think feeling a bit jealous is natural, acting on it [banning opposite sex friends] and freaking out about it isn't.

I think after being cheated on in the past I've realized that realistically-- if something is going to happen, there's no stopping it. If he crosses the line, it happens, I can't change it, and I'm done with him.
