    Ex problem

I have broken up with this ex boyfriend for over 3 years now,we're completely over and don't even live in the same country anymore. But every time he has a "girl issue" he still calls me over long distance and whine about things that I really don't care. He recently broke up with his girlfriend of a year, yesterday he called me at 5 am his local time, cried, and told me how his girlfriend had cheated on him so many times. Honestly, I didn't really want to talk to him because I found him really whiny and annoying. All I wanted to say to him was "I don't care," but that would too mean to him. I mean, it's not like I care about him anymore, I just don't like being mean to anyone. What should I say to him next time he calls so he'll get my message and never call again?

Ugh, my ex husband does this too.

Do you have call display? Because my first solution would be not to pick up the phone when you see his number come up. Secondly, next time he phones you should tell him that you don't think you can be of any help to him in these situations, and maybe he should discuss it with one of his buddies or something. Otherwise I can't think of a non-rude way to blow someone off.

You don't have to be mean. Tell him politely he should solve his own problems.

He's an adult (I assume), so he can handle it.

You have to mind your own life, not his.

You're in a different country, not like you're going to see him again. Just tell him you'd prefer he didn't call that he should deal with his own problems. It's not rude or mean to tell him how you really feel. If you don't want him calling tell him.

    Change your phone number.

    Problem solved.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Say you're busy everytime he calls you. Over time he will begin to realize he can't rely on you to listen to his girl problems.
