How to deal with new room mate situation ?

I moved out of my old place that was a dump where I was living with an old man and a young girl who was probably a drug addict.

I move in with a girl and a guy who are both young and pretty social as I thought this would be the right thing to do as they are around my age.

My problem is I am scared because I am not very social that we won't get along.

At best I am self contained. I can entertain myself on my own and be happy.

I like people but I don't need them. I tend to shut myself in my room after work but I make an effort to have a quick chat.

How should I approach this situation and have you delt with it in the past ?

The house is much nice and I think if I hfound a girl my new living arrangments would be helpful.

You should have a roommate meeting to lay down ground rules on things like rent, cleanliness, food, noise at night, etc.

Be open, be friendly and they should do the same likewise.

don't just sit in your room all the time, it makes other people feel awkward.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.

Why don't you offer to make dinner for everyone one night to introduce yourself?

    No rat poison, George.

Yea..don't be the creepy roommate that makes the others uncomfortable. Be polite and make sure you help with the cleaning or whatever else. (trash removal, etc.) This sounds like a good move for you. Good luck.

Go in your room but keep the door open. I don't know what you do in there, but if you're just on the computer or reading a book or something, you will still be "open" without feeling too exposed.

Just watch TV for 30 min with them. Wont kill you. Offer to share a big bag of chips.

Leaving your door open will also help.
