A Great Libertarian/Anarchist Open Discussion Radio Program... not country specific

If you want to listen to a small podcast/low bandwidth, try:

It's the best source of American talk back radio in recent years, in my honest opinion.

Art Bell's Coast to Coast went a bit batty around the mid 90's and now he charges to listen... this site can't, based on their very own mantra.

    Food for thought.

    I turned it on.

They were discussing the skirt length of cheerleader outfits.

    I turned it off.

It goes for nearly 3 hours, 6 days a week... there is humorous/off topic filler from time to time, Lipp.

There are also loads of uneducated but concerned sorts calling in.. (sometimes inebriated on whatever... sometimes merely moonbeams)

But some of the callers are conscientious and intelligent... as well as their guests and callers.

Take everything with a grain of salt... having said that... any discussion is a benefit.

I don't agree with that. I don't think I would get any benefit from listening to Glenn Beck.

Anarchy is for idealists. Have you looked around at your fellow man lately? You really put that much trust in them?

I don't want to imagine the world with total anarchy. People are worse than animals, they need other people to rule them.

Even though I want an anarchist island to live in, I do agree most of the people NEED to be controlled.

The problem with Anarchy (in history) is that it quickly degenerates into chaos, a dog eat dog world where the biggest dog eats everybody. If there is no regulation who will disallow it?

Maybe some time in the future when we all live in utopian empathy-altruiarian societies this system may work, but probably not before then.

    That's not necessarily true, Mish.

Anarchists more often than not agree that certain basic rules should exist.

    A Voluntaryism of sorts.

In history, the anarchist communes in Paris worked perfectly for a month... until they put an end to it by force.

If there are examples of where it actually worked then I could be wrong, links?

Though, if basic rules exist to me it speaks that there must be someone out there to enforce them (i.e. there is a hierarchy of sorts) meaning it's not a true Anarchy.

Anarchy only leaves a void for the power hungry to fill.

    Always.

There's no place for hierarchy in Anarchism, but as I said before, it's hard to make anarchism work unless most people are ... civilized.

    It lasted 2 months.

That's not exactly a success story.

Humans groups cannot exist without a leader.

Thanks for the link robot. Though, I didn't see the evidence that Paris Commune followed an Anarchist system. There was a central government, an armed force (National guard) and an agenda which required a hierarchical power structure to implement. From the link:

In a formal sense, the Paris Commune was simply the local authority, the city council (in French, the "commune"), which exercised power in Paris for two months in the spring of 1871.

Well, I said Paris, not all France... and I thought it was a month, my memory is bad ...

I just think this thing working for 2 months shows that it is possible to make it work, if everyone involved is willing to.
