If I were a girl I would be pretty straight forward with it if I were you. I'd say don't come on too strongly it might make him feel uncomfortable.

how long have you known him?
do you know him at all?

i'd say work on yourself, confidence and build up his attraction for him.

it's hard to understand, but most dudes will be turned off when a woman pursue.

or you can ask him out for coffee...hang out casually, and don't show signs of too much interest.

be confident and yourself, make him like you first before you tell him.

or you can just tell him...and see how that turns out.

i would back away if a chick tells me that unexpectedly...unless i mutually like her too.

there are a lot of variables in this question like the previous poster alludes to...

personally, I find it very attractive and flattering when a female just comes right out and says it. he may be interested in you too, and men are anything but mind readers.

I know rejection sucks, and I hate it too, but it only gets more difficult the more you prolong it.

it may be awkward to say and difficult to find the context in which to bring it up, but if he likes you too he won't care how or when you say it.
