    Boundaries

This is going to sound like a stupid question, and it probably is.

How do you set boundaries in a relationship? Do you set it to protect yourself or the relationship?

    ...And what KIND of boundaries???
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame
    God or the Devil

I think setting boundaries is a matter of deciding what is important and then being willing to protect that which is important.

In a relationship, for example, it is important to protect your own dignity, so if you feel it is being compromised, you must be willing to walk away from the relationship in order to preserve it, regardless of the pain you may be feeling at the moment.

It is also important to protect your relationship from outsiders, so if your girlfriends want to talk sh*t about your man, you have to be willing to risk losing them as friends if the behavior is not corrected.
