Dating someone from work... Should I or shouldn't I?

    Hi guys,

Okay, I'm just going to aim straight to the point. I came across this issue of having interest in my co-worker - perhaps dating, or even building a relationship. When I gave a lot of thought into it, I realized that one of the things that might get jeopardized is our professional relationship, and how it would affect our performance at work. What is the best way out of this situation?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know first hand how much this predicament sucks!
IMHO it comes down to this. If it went to hell could you still work with this person? i.e, proximity matters! If you have to work really closely with them it's different to crossing them in the halls once a day.
Loads of relationships start at work. There's no reason why it couldn't be great. Particularly if you take things slowly, it gives you the opportunity to suss eachother out and end it if it looks like a 'no go' before things get too involved.
You never know............................. until you ask!

so what did you zone_ny? I wonder what other people think of this.

I've never been in this situation, but am contemplating it.

I guess it depends how closely you work with your coworker. Personally I have had no luck dating someone from work. Breakups can be ugly....especially having to see them all the time.....and work gossip sucks.

Unless you were to keep it quiet at work....and then take things slowly outside of work, then I would advise against it.

But then again....you never know until you try. I guess its mainly about the two people involved in the situation and how mature you can be about it.....
Appreciate the good times and learn from the bad times....
