Love, etymologically from Germanic "lief" means pleasure. There are two types of pleasure. One, selfish pleasure, comes from the self - the body-mind-vibe vehicle - registering satisfaction of want. The other, transcendental pleasure, comes from simply being alive; the experience of being alive is, itself, pleasurable. This latter, unconditional pleasure is, unfortunately not very common these days. Worse; the two types of pleasure are, accidentally or deliberately, confused.
True love, transcendental pleasure, with another person is two people simultaneously sharing the fundamental experience of being alive (by fundamental I don't mean physical-mental-emotional). This is an extra-sensory state; it is only circumstantially related to the self, which dissolves in pure divine pleasure. If this is not a day-in-day out experience for a couple, then something is tragically wrong.
To put it another way; Reality, and everything in it, is love; revealed by giving myself to when I am - now.
