question about amendments

why wasn't the 18th amendment just removed from the constitution, rather than repealed by the 21st amendments?

i need info... i can't find it on the web or in books, could someone point me in the right direction?

You can't remove amendments. Part of the constituition states that amendments can't be removed and instead have to be countered by another amendment if they need to be neutered.
