Hey guys,

So, this chick I know got into a little verbal scuffle in the movie theater this past weekend. I guess some guy called her an effing c_____...you fill in the blanks and she got all bent out of shape. Anywho, I was joking around with her about it and as she walked away from me she said something to the effect of "if you were there it wouldn't have happened. I would have had backup.." Now...what exactly does that mean? Does that mean "I just wanted you to slug this guy" or "we should go to the movies sometime?"

Ditto. There was no implications of her wanting to see a movie with this guy, but wanted a male person around for protection.

She simply thought of herself as the bully victim and needed someone trustworthy and reliable to give her back some dignity and strength in the cinema.
although in other words, she was pretty disappointed that you weren't at her side...and probably she EXPECTED you to be by her side that instance

Did she do something to provoke this reponse? I mean, I know guys can be crude, but *usually* this kind of interaction is the result of some sort of escalation.
