    photoshop/web banner troubl

I designed a new banner for a web site. I did this in photoshop. I use several layers, but before I saved, I flattened the image.

I did the save for web option, to reduce the file size (makes it really small, making load time faster) and had tried both the jpeg and gif format, while getting the following error:

Do you notice how the edges don't blend with the background, making the picture blatantly obvious? I don't want this effect. What can I do to eliminate it?

The background is also a gradient, but I used the eyedropper on the color that is where the picture is... it seems that as soon as I upload the image to the web page, it lightens.

    I'd help, but--

I'm the guy that steals people's work, remember? Tool.

Okay, how about saving it in a different file format?
