dating someone when not over someone

i dont plan on this at all but i am curiouse.

when youre still in love with someone, can you fall for someone else? and does this get you over the person you still love

if you have been in a situation like this, please tell me about it and how it feels, thanks

It's called a "transitional relationship". Basically, it's a rebound, and as long as you're not selling yourself as a boyfriend, I think it's healthy to see new people right now.

i think it is possible to still love someone and fall in love with another person, or put yourself out there to fall in love with another person (sometimes called cheating, if you are still in a relationship with the first person). in the situation that you are talking about, i think that people allow themselves to fall, or think they are falling, in love with someone else while they are still in love with the other person to get the affection they had and to not feel as hurt and alone.

They do say that the best way for a woman to get over a guy is to get under another one! I don't know what the male equivalent for that phrase is, though!

There is a school of thought that says when you truly think you love someone, you wouldn't even consider another.

However, after a relationship ends, having someone new to focus on can be very healthy and significantly shortens the moping phase!

I say put an ad in the personals that reads:

    On The Rebound

    Sensitive male, recently shredded,
    seeks kind female for companionship,
    commiseration, and possible exchange
    of sexual healing. I'm emotionally
    unavailable, you should be too.

just like me, i'm sure that a lot of people in this world are capable at loving more than one person at any particular time.. that is of course in a sexual way.

I think the only way to forget someone you love is to fall in love with someone new. I have not had it happen to me so I still think about a girl from like 10 years ago. Why won't it happen! oh well...maybe my brain is broken.

well you never really forget about them, i can still remember all the girls i was once in love with and the memories that used to haunt me, i think it's just the emotions attached to the memory that wear off after awhile

it makes it much easier to get over someone that you know you shouldn't be with. I would not use a girl to get over someone else unless that girl was much better than the one i'm trying to get over, otherwise it's probably not a good idea, atleast i wouldn't think so

    No.

Unless you're a relationship-addict or you have that low of self-confidence that you have to have someone around, you can do it yourself.

You will always have them in the back of your mind.
