Meeting Lads

How do i get to know more lads? Ive never been particularly out going...rather shy to be honest and ive never really had male friends.

I would like to start to get to know more lads just as friends....mabey dating....w/e but i dont want to get to know lads from college, a few reasons for this...

1. I want `independant` friendships away from my college friends...

2. If we did date or w/e i would not like them to always be there...

3. If we dated or w/e i would like to be able to cut him out if i felt the need to which wouldnt be possible if we were at the same college.

So how do i get to know random people?:S

club - Im 17...
Gym - Not enough time or money to go the gym
Party/friends house - I wish! all my friends are boring! They dont have partys and my main friends dont have make friends either :S

Online... Hmmm that should be pretty easy...

WOW i didn't intend for it to sound half as bad as that! Basically i just want to get to know some males whether its just friendship...dating....relationship whatever im not looking for a relationship or dating at the moment but i would love to get to know some new people...its easy to get to know girls but ive never really had male friends.

I don't want to `ditch them any time i want` but i want friendships away from my main friendship circle...get to know people who none of my friends know.... i had a online male friend a few months ago (we ended up getting together but split up a few weeks ago) and it was nice to have a friend away from my usual friends....

....i don't want the to go my college simply because if we did end up in a relationship unexpectedly ( as i did with my ex bf) i wouldn't like too have to see them all the time if we split up...been there done that and i vow never to do it again it isnt worth the hastle...

All I an think of is taking up a hobby or some activity that is apart from college, maybe in another town etc. Or if you know female friends, meet THEIR friends etc. You need to involve yourself somehow, there's no magic formula for it.
