is distance a reason to end a relationship? are arguments enough to call it quits?

the girl is definitely still in love with the guy but why do guys say "maybe it's better if we stay as friends" when they have decided to end the relationship? duh! can't you imagine how that makes girls feel? how could someone who is still in love just be friends with the person she is still in love with?? impossible! are you guys not thinking?
